TEN YEARS IN, THE RE-MAINS RELEASE VREGEDONOMY

Ten years down the track and with their ninth CD release, Vregedonomy out on Vitamin, The Re-Mains continue to push the country rock and roll envelope.

September 2012 sees them on their fifteenth national tour, taking in the Northern Territory, NSW and Victoria, with the rest of the country to be covered in 2013. Then it’s back to Canada in June, for their fourth Northern Hemisphere odyssey.

The previous three Canadian tours have yielded a huge fan-base, 16 major festivals (including NXNE, NewMusic West, the Big Valley Jamboree, the Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival and Ness Creek – an unprecedented three times), as well as serious radio play on Canadian ABC and local stations.

Meanwhile in their decade of Australian touring they’ve played the Byron Blues five times, Woodford Festival twice (including 2012), Splendour in the Grass, Tamworth Country Music Festival (ten times), Darwin festival, St Kilda Festival, Wallaby Creek Festival (FN Qld), Barkly Arts Festival - Tennant Ck (NT), Mt Isa Rodeo, Nimbin Mardi Grass and dozens of other fests, A&I regional shows and rodeos and roadhouses, pubs and inner-city clubs across the nation – over 1000 shows in fact.

Now a four-piece, they’ve lost the banjo as Uncle Burnin’ Love has retired back to Townsville, but with Lethal Leigh Ivin still rampaging on the pedal steel and console steel guitars, plunged deeper into high and lonesome alt-country altitudes.

Vregedonomy – which roughly refers to the craziness and chaos loose in the world – is a ten-track album that moves from the understated Americana of opener ‘Road to your Heart’, through to soulful Seventies-rock in ‘Didn’t Mean It’ and undiluted country rock and roll in ‘Devilhand’. An all-star choir including Toni Swain, Leah Flanagan and Jackie Marshall remembers lost comrades in ‘Dead Friends’, while the likes of ‘My Hands Are On Fire’ haul in Glenys Rae Virus and the spirit of Bob Dylan for a fiddle-fired romp.
