Hailed in Melbourne, Australia, as ‘The Belle of Rootsy-Rockabilly-Twang’ award winning songstress Abbie Cardwell (vocals, guitar, harmonica, ukulele and banjo) had one rule when she led Her Leading Men (brother Jeb on guitars and dobro, and much in-demand drummer Ashley Davies) into Melbourne’s Audrey Studios for two hectic days.

This one rule was that each of the 11 songs was to be recorded live with no editing and no overdubbing.

It was to be Abbie & Her Leading Men playing live, no more and no less.
In the studio with the trio was live sound engineer for Dead Can Dance and Lisa Gerrard - David Badrick.

Once recorded, the song files were then sent to the USA where American producer Nick Didia (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Powderfinger etc.) performed the final touches with his mixing.

The 45-minute album features eight freshly penned Abbie originals of which she’s extremely proud.

There are also covers of Bobby Gentry’s Ode To Billie Joe (a live favourite) and a stunning version of Ryan Adams’ Come Pick Me Up, as well as a bonus offering in the form of US group Timbuk 3’s 1984 hit, ‘The Future’s So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades’.

VITAMIN RECORDS is proud to present The Bare Bones Session from Abbie Cardwell & Her Leading Men.
