Major Chord presents The Rabbit Hole, the follow up to its critically acclaimed self-titled debut album.   Pardon the pun, but this album has depth… It goes down, down, down into the mind and soul of its creator, Dan Flynn, and emerges through the folk-pop ramblings, double-meanings and melodic dealings of Major Chord.

Fall down into The Rabbit Hole and find songs that were written and recorded in Dan’s home studio...the sound of violins played down the hall, vocals recorded at 4am, percussion from all corners of the world, and an old 70s keyboard that cushions the fall...glockenspiels and shakers, the work of music makers, piano accordions and guitars played between passing cars.

Album track ‘Hey my name is Joe’ is a rollicking Neil Young-esque adventure aided by sublime vocals, guitars and keyboard reflecting Dan’s experiences as a social worker. The title track ‘The Rabbit Hole’ offers a metaphor for birth (amongst others) and symbolises the dynamism of life, while the track ‘Single File’ is a Johnny Cash-influenced rant about the virtues of thinking for oneself.  Major Chord has delivered an album of unique beauty. It offers a place in which to wander or hide; each song with a story folded neatly inside.

Major Chord emerged from Dan Flynn and Kate Connor's former band ‘sleeping pilot’ in 2006. They’ve played a plethora of gigs around Melbourne since then and were part of this year’s Apollo Bay Music Festival line up. Major Chord also joined Old Man River on their East Coast tour in 2008 and made a special appearance at their ‘Farewell to Good Morning’ show at the Sydney Opera House. Dan's guitar, Kate's violin and their vocals are often accompanied by keys, drums, bass (by assorted guests) making their lush, intimate sound slightly more boisterous. Dan is also a member of experimental folk duo Children of the Wave who released ‘Carapace’ (Sensory Projects/Inertia) last year to wide critical acclaim.

‘Flynn's clever lyrical structures are second to none. People say they don't write songs like that anymore, but this here is proof that they do.'
